Session 2 – Future Manufacturing – disrupted or disruptive?
Industrie 4.0 has brought a multifaceted transformation of production processes. Beyond short and medium-term entrepreneurial success, however, sustainable growth strategies and continuous pressure for higher efficiency are increasingly getting into the center of attention. In order to fulfill these demands, a trend to bio-intelligent systems has emerged beyond the developments associated with Industrie 4.0. For manufacturing, this implies new challenges in areas including mechanical and system engineering as well as automation. In view of this, how far have we come with Industrie 4.0 and how will sustainable growth strategies challenge the factory of the future?
